The first recorded library in Dunse was in 1768. This was a subscription library with 2000 volumes which was in the Town Hall. The annual subscription was 10 shillings (50p).
Now part of the Scottish Borders Library Service, the Duns Library is housed in what was the Berwickshire County Library before local government re-organisation.
